Gender based violence is one of the key drivers of HIV and AIDS in Africa. Zimbabwe has an estimated 1.4 million people living with HIV (PLHIV), 1.2 million of whom are between the ages of 15 and 64.The unequal power relations between men and women lead to the fact that women have limited capacity to negotiate practicing safe sex or access to HIV services and are more likely to be abused when they do so.
